About 180 Frederick StreetLofts on Frederick

As infamous as the St. Lawrence neighbourhood is due to its namesake market, prospective homeowners should get to know the area equally as well when searching for a luxurious downtown Toronto condo. One building in particular, the Lofts on Frederick is highly much sought after for their particularly unique design. Situated at 180 Frederick Street just west of Sherbourne, it’s hard to tell whether the building’s enviable location is an ideal complement to its luxury features, or the other way around.

The contemporary Lofts on Frederick boasts spacious floor plans set within a building that exudes a sophisticated character, courtesy of its renovation having been carried out by the Sanderline Limited. Formerly a full-fledged commercial building, the top two storeys of the 4-storey edifice at 180 Frederick were completely converted into condos in 1999.

The building that houses the lofts is itself quite distinguished, clad in robust brickwork and finished with hints of elegant stone framing its grand windows. The modern architecture is also highlighted by sets of distinctively round windows.

Finally, since much of 180 Frederick Street remains slated for commercial use — convenient for the few residents who manage to score a spot in the building — there isn’t room for an extensive list of amenities. Rather, the developers decided to maximize the Lofts on Frederick’s living spaces instead. And to top it all off, the tall trees surrounding the building seem to stand as testament to the vibrant lifestyles enjoyed by the residents.

    The Suites

Toronto condos for sale at the Lofts on Frederick rarely make an appearance on the market, and not only because there are just 12 suites. These open-concept living spaces were laid out carefully, and during the renovation process much attention was paid to the details. The suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as mix of hardwood and concrete floors that work to soften their hard-loft aesthetic. South facing lofts even have skylights that are angled and adorned with charming wooden shutters, creating quite a warm and bright atmosphere.

Ranging in size from approximately 700 to 1,000 square feet, 180 Frederick’s suites consist of one bedroom plus den layouts. Although only one of these living spaces extends outside onto a terrace, the lofts are airy enough throughout, especially considering their ceilings soar higher than eleven feet.

    The Neighbourhood

Those living at 180 Frederick can appreciate living across from the downtown campus of George Brown College, even if they’re not students or alumni. This is because living here makes it that much easier to enjoy an affordable, fine dining experience at the Chef’s House, also at the intersection of King East and Frederick. Staffed by top-notch culinary arts and hospitality students from George Brown, the Chef’s House’s delicious meals more than satisfy diners while student chefs are given the ability to hone their skills.

There are many other trendy restaurants, bars, and cafes along King East as well. Between semester when school isn’t in session, residents will have no choice but to shake things up and try a different spot for date night.

Residents hoping to cook up a feast at home can visit the St. Lawrence Market in order to pick up fresh ingredients. With its location at Front Street and Jarvis, the proud produce vendors and expert butchers and fishmongers in the St. Lawrence Market are less than a five-minute walk from the Lofts on Frederick Condos.

    Transportation

The neighbourhood surrounding 180 Frederick is quite walkable, but when those living in the Lofts on Frederick need to venture out of the area, they can do so easily — even without access to a car. The 504 Streetcar stops steps away from the building, at Sherbourne Street, as it travels east and west on King.

Additionally, the 504 Streetcar offers riders the chance to transfer onto subway trains at King and St. Andrew Stations. Both on the Yonge-University-Spadina line, riders can quickly travel to Union Station, where one can then reach GO Transit buses and trains, VIA Rail trains, and the UP Express service to Pearson International Airport.

Alternatively, for those who prefer to drive, the Lofts on Frederick sits in an enviable location. Drivers have the choice of either heading east on King to reach the beginning of the Don Valley Parkway, from which they can travel northbound through the city, or they can head south on Jarvis toward the Gardiner Expressway, which runs along the shore of Lake Ontario.
